Teaching and Learning Update

100 Days of school

Congratulations to the Prep students who celebrated 100 days of school on Friday 1st August!

Dip into D.I.P

We had a successful first Dip session for or 2026 Preps and their families. We look forward to welcoming you back on the Monday 25th August.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Thankyou to all those that participated in the parent teacher interviews. We had about 60% of the CSPS families participate.

Wellbeing and Engagement Update

Parent opinion survey

We want our parents / caregivers / guardians to tell us what they think!

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents / caregivers / guardians think of our school. The survey is offered annually by the Department of Education, and designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. A random sample of approximately 60 per cent of parents / caregivers / guardians has been generated to participate in this year’s survey.

The survey is optional, but we encourage all families who receive an invitation from the random sample to participate. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open from Monday 18th August to Friday 19 Sept.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the survey period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.

Last year survey results were used to gauge whether initiatives we had put in place showed an improved result, such as the need for increased communication from teachers and greater clarity around how their child is progressing. You will have noticed we have changed the reports and introduced parent teacher interviews so that we could help parents with understanding their child’s progress.

Wednesday 13th August – SHINE Day

‘At Clifton Springs PS all children Shine!’ SHINE is the name of our social emotional program at CSPS. It is a program we run to support children’s mental health and wellbeing which includes suggestions on how to regulate your emotions and the development of social skills. Each year we have a day dedicated to bringing awareness to children’s health and wellbeing. Our Shine Captains and our Mental Health in Primary Schools practitioner Katie Palmer coordinate the day.

SHINE day this year falls during ‘Bullying No Way week. The theme for 2025 is Be Bold. Be Kind. Speak Up. Bullying No Way Week highlights the important roles school, family and community play in helping young people feel accepted, respected and a sense of belonging.

Children can wear a splash of purple. The gold coin donation for the privilege of dressing up will go to a foundation that works towards reducing bullying such as the Alannah Madeline foundation. Our Story | Alannah & Madeline Foundation

Respectful Behaviours in the School Community

When parents, carers and school staff work together as one team, our students do better. Everyone at school, particularly staff and parents/carers, play a role in making school a better place for learning and work.

Parents, carers and school staff have a relationship that can last many years. This is an opportunity to work together to create a positive relationship in the best interests of your child. When this relationship is built on respect and trust, students learn better and feel like they belong in the school.

Every member of our school community has a right to feel safe and be protected.

The department’s Respectful Behaviours within the School Community Policy describes the positive behaviour expected from parents, carers, and other adults in Victorian school communities. The policy sets clear standards of behaviour to create a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for students, staff and adults.

There are also resources to support safe and respectful relationships in our school community, including information about getting involved in the school, advice on how to raise a concern or complaint, and parenting support resources. You can find the policy and these resources here.

For more information on how to engage positively with our school, please contact myself on clifton.springs.ps@education.vic.gov.au
